Timing is everything

The longer I live, the more I realize that timing is everything!  Being in the right place….starting the right thing….showing up at the right time…saying the right thing..etc…..

Right thing done at the wrong time = a mess

Right thing done at the right time = awesome

Moses life trajectory was to be the deliverer of his people from slavery of the Egyptians.  He grew up, with not only the care of his mother, but also (against all odds) in Pharoah’s house.  He was schooled & trained with the best of the best.  He was now 40 and “ready” for what God had created him to do!  The problem was……God’s timing was different that Moses timing and in God’s timing – Moses was not ready.

Acts 7: 23″When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his fellow Israelites. 24He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. 25Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. 26The next day Moses came upon two Israelites who were fighting. He tried to reconcile them by saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why do you want to hurt each other?’

27″But the man who was mistreating the other pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us? 28Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’ 29When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian, where he settled as a foreigner and had two sons.

His heart was right….His timing was off!  What lesson can we learn from his mistake on timing:  He looked around but he did not look up before he made this tragic step!

Lesson for us……we are ready to seize the moment when we have spent our time looking up and not around and we trust His voice in our lives so we can follow what He wants for us and trust that timing is HIS not OURS!
