15 years

Last night we celebrated as a church what God has done at NorthStar over the past 15 years!!  Hard to believe that much time has passed and so much as happened.  15 years ago….I was 27, Anne was 7 months pregnant with Mary-Michal and Casey was two.  Today, I am a quickly graying 42 year old, Anne is (Not pregnant), Casey is 17 and a senior in HS and Mary-Michal is 14 and a high school freshman. We have seen thousands of lives changed, tons of churches planted, lots of good days in families lives and lots of dark days as well.  I am so thankful that long before we thought of NorthStar, it was already on God’s agenda.  I am so thankful that there was a group of people praying for a church like NorthStar, long before we ever had our first service!   We are so blessed and I am so thankful!  So thankful that our staff, who could be anywhere in the world leading, have chosen to stand and lead with me at NorthStar!

My children have never known another church and they absolutely love church and think it is the greatest place in the world!  Anne & I have our closest friends in the world there sitting beside us every weekend……NorthStar is not where I work & serve….it is my family!!!  So thankful for the last 15 and so looking forward to the next 15!

  1. It’s like a lot of things in life. You never know just how good a thing you have until you ‘lose’ it. Leaving NSC in 2001 to return to Ohio, we knew we were leaving a ‘good’ thing but 10 1/2 years later; we’ve known that we left a ‘great’ thing. We walked around NE Ohio with a North Star ‘yard stick’ and few churches ‘measured’ up. Church family is crucial to us as well. These are the people we’re ‘doing life’ with, share our eternal values with as well as out joys and sorrows. If we had the chance to do it all over again, would we? We ask ourselves that a lot. Still miss you all; more than you know.

  2. Mike –

You have touched so many lives in your years of ministry. I still look up to you with the greatest respect and admiration that can be afforded to anyone in this life. Thank you for having such a willing and open heart to hear God’s calling in reaching out to serve His people. It is because of your guidance and willingness to help others that I am inspired to continue in my educational journey to help others as well (last semester of Bachlors now, then delving into the Masters). I love you like a Brother, and I am so thankful that God placed you in my life at just the right time. Congratulations on an AWESOME 15 years. I certainly look forward to seeing what the next 15 years hold for you and for NorthStar!
